I turn my comp on and it goes to the loading screen after about 8 seconds it just turns itself off and back on then doing this over and over and over. it doesnt stop doing this. please if anyone knows whats wrong tell me

Either your NTFS file structure is corrupt, or your hard disk is knackered..

If you have got a XP boot disk

make sure your pc boots from cd in the bios
put in the cd
press a key to boot from cd
let the xp setup disk run - it looks like a dos screen
when you get to the point
select recovery mode
press return
you may need to select your keyboard type
if you have an administrator password type that in if not press return
type in at the c:\windows

chkdsk /r
let it run
wait for it to finish it may take upto an hour
reboot
it then should work, if it does not then buy another hard disk because you will loose data if you go any further..

no pressing f8 doesnt work and what is a boot disk???
it turns itself off and back on about 8seconds through the loading thing with the three little bars going along it glitches and then turns off and on

a boot disk is the orgional OEM Windows XP CD..

Most machines built by the so called big manufacturers do not have these disks anymore unlike us system builders who should supply you with these disks..

All the best

It could be your RAM or the North Bridge on your MOBO. I had the exact same problem on a relatively new build. It wouldn't boot in safe mode and I couldn't get to boot from the disk before it would BSOD. I replaced the CPU and the RAM and that didn't work. I sent my mobo in and it turned out to be North Bridge which is part of the memory controller I guess. Windows loads into your RAM so if either the RAM or North Bridge bad Windows will get tons errors and BSOD on start up not allowing safe mode or booting from the disk which also loads into the RAM to run

Did you actually try F8 (pressing it after the system posts the first bit of stuff up on your screen) and get it to display the menu??

Or is it ignoring the F8 command??

Lets start with the basics ...

You need to go to the bios setup and set usb keyboard and mouse to on :)

yes i did press F8 and it worked but once in the setup what am i supposed to do i tried basically everything there and still it would not startup without doing what it does

Is this a new build or a new problem on a existing system?

You guys want help but you dont have the smarts to give us enough details to help.

its a new problem on a existing system

i guess you have updated the bios

What a crap manual that came with that motherboard...

Just looked it up on the web,, ugh the manual is horendous...

there must be a usb keyboard and mouse setting somewhere, it might be obscure but there must be... isnt there surely

Hit del on bootup and go into the bios.

Check the cpu temp isn't too high.

If the cooler is not seated properly or the thermal paste has deteriorated this may be the cause.

Have you taken the side case cover off and had a look to see if the fans are not all clogged up with dust etc ??

While your at it, dig up the specs on the mobo, cpu, etc ...

Hang in there ... no pun intended lol.

its depends on what moods shes in 😉
