Hello! I'm thinking of buying Windows XP Home license and because I want to save some money I turned to check some Windows XP Home Genuine second-hand offers. I came across a guy selling his Retail Genuine version which has been activated once before but is doesn't come with OEM EULA, so it can be installed on various machines.
After that I chatted with a techie who elaborated that Windows cannot be re-sold and this sale is illegal. He also said that if I were to buy any Windows from unauthorized distributor, the license would always be invalid because it's not my name written in the receipt. I easily assumed that after I read some threads over the same topic but what I don't understand is how any of this should concern end user like me?
If I am ever to be checked in the future (which is highly unlikely for an end user like; even at an airport check), I can always say that a friend of mine (whose name is written in the receipt) has lent me his computer to use it for a while. And nobody can prove anything. Is this correct ? Or am I mistaken ?
P.S. Sorry for my English and thanks for your replies.
