OK...this may be a little bit of an odd question, but it's been really agravation. I want to flash to the new 1005-03e BIOS for my Asus A7V. Problem: I CAN'T FORMAT A BOOTABLE FLOPPY ANYMORE!!! I'm running a dual boot with WinMe and Win2k, and neither of those will format just a plain bootable floppy.

So, uh, how do I do this? Make a disc on someone else's computer? Seems kinda rash to me...HELP please!!!

Try going into control panel, add remove programs, startup disk that should give you what you need. Also got a question for you your Father wouldn't be John clayton also would it, and lives in West Virginia?

Boot to DOS, "format a: /s". That'll format and make a bootable floppy. Extract your flash utility and binary file to the same disc.

Um...that's kindof the whole problem...can't do that. Under WinMe, you can't boot to dos. Even with a startup disk. If you do witht he disk, it says that the format a: /s command is no longer there. Under Win2k, that also is not a valid command. I guess I'll have to make a disk on someone else's Win98 computer...but this is really annoying...

THanx though

No, you can't make a plain-vanilla bootable floppy, but you can use your WinME or Win2k startup disk 🙂 Put the flasher and the new BIOS on it (it just fits on one floppy) and you're all set. Worked for me.

By the way, bios version 1005 final is out.
