winxp and zonealarm

I downloaded the free version of zone alarm. I installed it on my computer running winxp pro. Zone Alarm does not ever remember what programs i say accept to to access the internet. Everytime i boot up it loses that information.
I uninstalled. Deleted the folder and reinstalled. It worked a couple boots and now it is back to asking rights for everything again.

Anyone know of how to fix this or could recommended another good free firewall?

I actually tested the firewall that comes with Windows XP. If you go to the <A HREF="http://grc.com" target="_new">Shields Up!</A> website, and scan your ports, they're all stealth. Pretty cool.

If you don't know where to enable the firewall, open up the network connections folder. Then, get to the properties of the connection you use to get online. The option is in the advanced tab.

call me a little weird..But if microsoft created the firewall. THey know how to get past the firewall. I Like a 3rd party firewall. I feel safer for some reason. I am little dilusional maybe..but hey..what the hell..

Well, I have Pro version of it, and it runs fine. Have you disabled XP's firewall before you used ZA? (just a thought)

I actually take back what I said. A couple of times, when submitting posts here, errors came up. I remember gibberish, "Error...server...Microsoft..." Right then, I was thinking that it was the firewall. I disabled it, and everything ran fine. So, I think I will just stick to a 3rd party.

I'm actually debating whether or not to go back to Win2K for now, until more kinks are worked out.

Yep i already disabled the ms firewall. Before installation.

i have tried zone alarm pro. NO good either. Can anyone help me with a total uninstall of the program. LIke everthing in the registry deleted too that has to do with the damn zonealarm. Possibly anything it would leave behind in windows too?
