ive been looking at windows xp, and im wondering if it would be worth getting with my new system. ive checked windows XP out, and the system requirements are quite high... i wonder if that will effect gaming preformance on my new computer im getting...
sys stats:
1.4ghz amd athlon 266mhz FSB
384mb DDR ram
Geforce 3 w/tv out 4xagp
i want to get the best performance i can squeeze out of this system so should i stay with windows ME or go with XP?

never fear, the bdtman is here!

Holy smokes, with that setup run XP. You'll get more performance and more stability. I've been running 2000 since May 2000 and XP since 7/28/2001(beta preview program). XP is clearly the best way to go.

I find XP runs way faster on my computer, and its really stable as well. There are a few bugs here and there, but the OS is really new, and I still think its a good idea to run XP.

i had on beta version 2526, quite a few bugs in it which is to be expected. I found it to be quite a bit slower in some things than 2000. For some reason, it when nothing or one program was open it would be using 100% of the CPU when i did try to open anything it would be very slow. I also had problems putting the divx codec on.

I now have 2000 back on, i might try again with the retail version when it comes out.
