*BUMP*

I'm bumping myself, (and will continue to do so) because the more of you who take the time to post at this site, the more comprehensive the listing, and the more useful it will become.

There is also a Forum on this site devoted entirely to XP.

I think it would be an excellent idea for those of you with the OS to post, describing problems and/or solutions to those problems at this site, in addition to Tom's Hardware. This OS is going to become wide-spread very soon, and I think it is an excellent idea to have a Forum devoted exclusively to XP.

I would also think that posting a list of currently incompatible hardware would be a good idea; as well as describing the steps taken to upgrade a device in order for it to function correctly. The XP compatibility tools are buggy, at best ... and I have already run across several users who were unpleasantly surprised by this fact during the operating system installation, and afterwards, with BSOD's while attempting to keep the OS up-and-running.

The more information that you post, the less "challenging" it will be in the future to troubleshoot a problem; and you can guarantee that there are going to be many new users with a whole plethora of complaints, simply because the OS is new, and has really only begun to be distributed.

I, for one, would greatly appreciate having access to a database compiled by real users with actual day-to-day experience working with the operating system, instead of having to once more deal with Microsoft's bloated website of dead links, limited troubleshooting wizards and search engine.

For starters I didn't understand this, maybe some will some won't. BSODs???(I have already run across several users who were unpleasantly surprised by this fact during the operating system installation, and afterwards, with BSOD's while attempting to keep the OS up-and-running.) Second the link you have listed, from what I see has no order. For me, UT is my game, OK will this sight have that? Well, let's see there are 25 or more pages, each with 15 or so per page. That's a lot of searching. It would be nice if I could type in Unreal Tournament and go straight there, if they do then Doo to me. And even if they did have UT and it work, I believe for other's it may not, depending on there hardware, if there is any suck thing as comparability problems. Now, if I'm correct you asking people to post all the problems they had and how they solved it, I been known to be incorrect also, but I think I'm close. In that case to save face, I would say these are just comments. You and other's may or may not agree, and that's OK, that's the hole ideal. I'm mean how many printer's are there, scanner, games, video cards, just to name a few possible problem issues, where will it end? I admire your determination. Myself am driven crazy to XP or not. I hear over and over it's just a face lift to Win2000, and even slower, and such things. But at the same time I have this itch to want to get it, because of the hype. The funny thing all or most of the hype has been negative things about XP. Is XP just a good ideal gone wrong? Your right people have to post their problem, because not to many people will have it and be able to help, at least not now. To me XP is like learning Windows all over again, because things are moved, things are gone, is XP worth it? And why? I'm a gamer is it better then my 98se, what about someone with Y2k? POST people of XP, if you made it this far is XP worth it???

Hi Toejame
I haven't had time to reply, if one was needed. It seems someone was using my name and S. S and had my ele. shut off and switch to a new place, also had their phone in my name, and I find out they were going to switch my gas to there place too. I thought this stuff only happen to other people. haha And the police won't do nothing, since he did everything over the phone. Guess, I'll be checking into Firewall and being more careful.
I could go over every point you made, pretty clever by the way, in your respond to my respond and debate one by one and look for any misspelled words that you might have made, but my spell check is down. Haha
If I post Intel is better then AMD I'm sure I'm going to get some feed back. And that's all I was doing with your post, I seen an invitation to reply to your ideal. I simply was making comments, not saying it was a bad or good ideal. Just that maybe there were some flaws. If something is going to be done it has to be look at from all sides. I don't know the full extent of your ideal, and could only comment, maybe you thought of it and maybe not.
Instead of letting it go there, I'll add a few more cent. That sight you had post does do a direct search, but can that be done here? Of all Tom's reader's (who are they)? for obvious reason I would say their either builder or upgraders. How many of Tom's readers buy PC? I don't know. I'm a newbie to Community, just look at my name jiffy. haha For those PC Buyer's, they have no choice, but to get XP. So, how many of Toms reader's will make the switch? I think the problems can be solved as they come in. Why? Because the best of the best are here, and Toms reader can solve anything that comes along, including you. Piece
