[SOLVED] Wired Slow - 2mb on 1gb line - 300 mb running wireless

SOLVED - Updated Intel Ethernet Connection (2) I218-V (I could of swore I had already done that) and boom - wired internet if flying.

1st post here so if I leave anything out feel free to yell at me. I am about to go crazy!

I have ATT Gigafiber installed - New rollout and hookup.

PC hard wired with new Cat 6 cable into ATT modem/router combo: 2-4 mbs
PC hooked up to ATT Modem/Router Wireless: 300 mbs
PC Wireless Router Nighthawk AC2600: 200 mbs down

Wife work laptop (older windows laptop) wired into modem: 550 mbs down and 900+mbs up !!!! This is the only reason I know it isn't the modem.

I have run every scan known to man: Antivirus, Malwarebytes Pro, rkill

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I am fine with the 200 wireless running off the Nighthawk for everything in the house.

I just need to get the PC running at 500+ mbs hard wired in (10 feet away)

Do you have Killer brand network hardware or the Asus ROG game optimizer installed? Both of those software products will kill sequential network speed to improve game ping times.

The cable I am using is the same one I use to hard wire in my wifes laptop that is getting 500+ down and 900+ up. so the cable can handle it. But I will find a few others to test just in case.

Nope - just a 2016 pc build out from Feline PC with the specs listed in the post.

I don't understand why the wireless is 300+ when the wired is around 2-6 download. Then wifes old work computer can straight fly all wired in.

It may not help but assuming you have a built in ethernet adapter, have you tried uninstalling it in device manager, rescanning to get the PC to re-find the adapter, and then reinstalling / updating the drivers? I'm also on Windows 10 pro and have found the last couple of MS updates have totally knackered my ethernet connection to a point where it just crawls no matter what I do.

I've ended up having to use a 5g USB dongle on my desktop which is fine as I have a superfast router and broadband - but I'd rather use the internal hardware which is why I'm planning on migrating to Fedora Linux as I'm totally hacked off with Windows.

Im going to boot up from a live linux usb to test out whether it is some sort of Windows/sercurty/bloatware issue. Then the ethernet adaptor is next on my list.
