Solution
Download a free wireless channel scan utility like inSSIDer from HERE, install it on your computer that has wireless and look for the channel that has the fewest high strength signals of the three non-overlapping N channels (1, 6, and 11). Then select that channel in your router wireless configuration page.
You change the channel at the router, not the pc.

WiFi has channels, kind of like a CB radio.
The primary channels are 1,6,11, and you want a 5 channel seperation.
You can download ssider on your pc, wifi analyzer on android, or an app on iOS to view the wifi signals in your area. Out of the 3 choose the one with the lowest signal (anything bellow -85 db will not interfer with your signal).
