Question Wireless and Wired Connections not working

Have been using net gear wireless adapter model a6100 for sometime never had any issues with it. i am on my on windows 10 pc, not a prebuilt or anything. this AM it randomly goes out, and when plugged in, it says the last usb device you plugged in malfunctioned and is not recognized. have been searching the web for sometime in hopes of an answer, nothing. here are some things i did that did not work.
* reinstalled usb drivers
*used a different usb port
*restarted PC and plugged in again.

• searched different network adapters
• used Ethernet cable

i cant install drivers for the network adapter because i dont have wifi (obviously). in the network adapters, it only shows ethernet, not my netgear network adapter. here is wher our next problem begins. i figure i can just plug and ethernet cable in, and use that for now until i get a new adapter assuming that the problem is strictly the netgear adapter, nope. plugs in ethernet cable, and it says it isnt plugged in. i make sure its enabled in the network adapter section, which it is, and make sure it is securely in both the pc and router. it works with the other desktops in the house so i dont know whats up. please help

UPDATE: i moved my big ATX PC to the router so i could use a shorter cable, and wha la. ethernet works. is this now just a matter of getting a new adapter?

I would say so -- looks like the Netgear WiFi adapter has packed up as you say.
