I have a DIR-868L dlink router. I have a DAP-1522 hard wired to the router, and I am using it as an access point to extend the router. Per advice I've seen on these forums, I set the DAP-1522 to static ip, instead of dhcp. The access point works great to extend my network, but there is one room further out that gets choppy connection. I therefore purchased the DAP-1320 to extend the access point, ands I "cloned" the access point's ssid and password when setting it up. I also updated the firmware. However, I have not had much luck with the DAP-1320. It seems to have screwed up communications between the clients and access point, and it doesn't appear the extender connects to any client, although the ssid and password are the same as the access point. I noticed in advanced settings that the extender is defaulted to use dhcp. I therefore set this to a static ip, like my access point. I used the same info for the static ip as that used by the access point (except the extender's own IP address is different). One other item - the extender requires that the DNS field be completed, whereas the field is blank in the access point.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? How should the extender be configured for best performance in extending the access point?

Thanks all.

Why not try going back go DHCP and the default settings for all your devices.

I'm not sure of the reason for suggesting a STATIC IP, but if DHCP works fine for you then problem solved.

If DHCP mode is still problematic then investigate the problem further. As for that, I can't help.

(Also check if a firmware update exists for your main router.)
