Wireless N adapter and G router

Have a linksys wrtg54g router that has been working for years now. Bought a new linksys wpc300N for my laptop - however i experience frequent disconnects ( about 1 in 10 mins ! ) . Have tried several things - changing the SSID , channels, reinstall xp pro and then add just the card, using just windows WZC , using just the linksys monitor. other G laptops work fine. pl. help

Where you able to test the wireless adapter card on another pc and observe if same problem persist?
