Hello,
When I run a wire from my modem to computer, my speed is 100mbps, when I go through my wiress router, it is 54mbps. My Netgear wireless router claims to support 108mbps, so what gives? Do I need a wireless router that supports 200mbps to get 100 out of it? Or is the wireless signal always cut in half?

Welcome to the wonderful world of duplex wireless -- half the speed of wired (or more likely much less). I guess you haven't actually tried throughput tests or you'd see that the actual speed is far lower than the signal quality measure suggests.

Wireless is a convenience. If you want full performance stick with wired.

Or is the loss of speed even when you are wired via the router ?
