one little thing before I start, I don't want the answers to be Opinionated I just want to know what game is for me. I liked asassin's creed and I've seen videos of dark souls 2 and it seemed pretty good. I'm looking for a game that has good story line, immense landscapes, intense gameplay and also Graphics that will paralyze me in awe *cough* 980 TI & 5820k OC to 4.5ghz *cough* I spent most of my money on my rig so I only have enough for one. Also I have high school so I only have time for one xD. Also I'm. Looking into getting a laptop with a 970m. So just for curiosity would either of these game be able to run on a 970m and a 6700hq? Probably not I'm just curious 😛 ( I forgot I have no money :pt1cable: )

Having played a little of Witcher 3 and quite a lot of DS3 recently, if you want story DS3 has basically none, or it's to say that DS3 will never tell you what the story really is, it's all cryptic and vague.

Witcher 3 has a real story, they both kind of have similar gameplay (monsters will F*** your S*** if you don't know how to properly fight them, and every one fights differently) but neither are much like assassin's creed as that's a stealth game, and neither of the two have stealth really.

A 970m and 6700HQ will be enough to run Witcher 3 but it's definitely one of the most demanding games out there so only your desktop will really run it well.
Dark Souls is by far the single hardest rpg series available today. If you like constantly dying (you can recover your souls near the place you died so it's not a total fubar), rewarding boss battles, treasure, weapons, armor, difficult enemies, a vast and varied land/city scape set in ancient times, giant dragons, and enemies of all sorts check out this game. It should run fine on a 970m at probably maxed out settings @1080p. You'll die, over and over and over, hah ha ha ha ha. I don't know who the witcher is but it's probably childs play compared with Dark Souls. You can run it @2160p with your 980ti maxed out.

If you play it every day for 5-6hours you might beat it in a month but probably will take longer because bosses are so ridiculously big and strong it takes alot of searching and looting to even start to get good and then proportionally stronger enemies and bosses will ruin your day over and over again.

Both are RPG but play differently. Dark Souls is more about truly mastering your char. Even slight mistake can be very deadly even when fighting minions. But story wise....honestly i did try Dark Souls series before but i don't even really know what the stories are all about. they give brief explanation in the begining and thst's it. Juat fight boss after boss but i don't even know why i really need to fight each of them and why i must beat them. What are their stories? and it seems to me a lot of things in the game were not explained. They just give you one simple tutorial about fighting and then you're on your own. It is up to you to find it out. Though i believe they were purposedly develop that way. And if you aware JRPG also like that in certain ways. There bound to be stuff that got hidden unless you were reading guide/strategy book. I think this is just how jap dev (From Software) develop their games because such things are quite the norm for JRPG.

As for witcher 3 the gameplay was not that punishing but it is not a simple hack and slash either. The use of potions for example add more variety to the combat because those potion does not simply boost your certain stat but they also lethal at the same time. And the story probably where the game shines. At the very least the story is clear and you know why you do this and that.

Graphic wise....the witcher 3 most likely better. To this day the game still one of the few that you can considered as demanding. There is even mod that enhance the graphic further.

Ultimately each people have their own preference. So i can't say this is bettter than this one in term of gameplay. Maybe you can look gameplay footage or try playing both games somewhere to actually experience to see which games you like better.

Looks like you're more a witcher 3 kind of person, witcher 3 graphics are great, you have a huge world with great landscapes to explore, storyline is great, and combat is pretty good.

On the other hand, dark souls 3 has decent graphics, is much smaller than the witcher 3, but levels are masterfully crafted, the story is pretty good, but you need to look for it, also combat is superb, but not for everyone.

Both games will run well on a 970m with some tweaking.

Dark Souls 2 is not too interesting from story standpoint as far as I understand (DS1 was good at it, but only if you are the one looking into the story as a detective, as most of the things are not "told", you need to piece together small hints and descriptions to understand what is going on).

Witcher 3 is open world so obviously the story will be impacted negativly.

Also, note that Witcher series is a trilogy, so you WILL be missing on story if you did not play the previous ones (Witcher 2 has a very good story, witcher 1... not so much, but still ok).

In other words, Neither option (Witcher 3 or DS2) are games id qualify as having very rich storylines, but if you HAVE to choose from those w, Witcher 3 seems what you are looking for.

Every single response to your question is going to be an opinion. That being said, here's my opinion!

I'd get the Witcher 3 if I were you. Granted I haven't played DS3, however I did play DS1 and it was brutally punishing. I'm assuming DS3 follows a similar vein in difficulty to DS1. I don't have time to sit down and spend hours mastering a game that punishes you for making the slightest mistake (as rewarding as this must be). The reasons why I would recommend the Witcher 3:

1) Graphics are amazing. Crank everything up to ultra, stick hairworks on, you'll have a great time!
2) Storyline is kind of good, just not gripping. The fact that you don't have to focus on the main storyline led me to get sidetracked, forgetting why I was even worried about the main quest. That being said, the storyline is still good, and the acting/dialogue is excellent.
I need to go save Ciri? Oh yeah sure... I just need to beat this guy at gwent. And this guy. And this guy. Several weeks have passed you say? Meh she'll be fine.
3) I set my difficulty to the 2nd highest, and still find myself having to re-try a fight from time to time. If you're worried about difficulty just stick it on max and see how you go.
4) The combat is fun, with different enemies requiring different approaches to fight them effectively.
5) Gwent

Both are worth playing games, W3 has greatest singleplay experience ever for a RPG and D3 is one of the best multiplay RPGs.
But if u ask me which game has better combat system, i will say that is Witcher 3, D3 combat system is somehow very annoying

Um ithink you dont know any thing about ds3 beacuse if you know any thing and played the hole games of ds you would have fetched out about the bosses lore ita written on thier boss rooms on thier souls :)
