The problem is, that while the existing players found it a great way to
fast level an alt, new players are doing the same thing - and then
finding they've outleveled their contacts, badge missions, etc, and most
importantly, have damn all influence.
So they zoomed up to 22+ but can't even afford _1_ SO and start begging.
I'll admit, I did hunt WLs, but on the other hand, I generally "twink"
my alts with 1 million influence anyway. After all - i've done the
"starving hero" routine dozens of times already and it really doesn't
_increase_ my enjoyment.
In particular WLs were a decent way to level up the peacebringer, though
I think he's going to get parked at 25ish.
It's just not really fun.
[I copied to test to try out a human/dwarf build for respec, and it
would seem that human form ranged attacks are so weak as to be useless.
I shot an even con void seeker. I shot him 3x for approx 10% of his
hp, he shot me 3x and killed me. Glinting eye, Gleaming Blast, Luminous
Detonation.
Of course, in human form, you pretty much ALWAYS get stunned/knocked
down by Q-guns so you always lose toggles and time.
The melee attacks are pretty good, but the recharge even with hasten
means you spend a lot of time just standing there, since there's only 2
of them. You can sort of use them, then flip to dwarf for a bit, then
flip back to human when you think they've recharged. Assuming of
course that you're fighting a group of 1-3 that don't hit very hard.]
Maybe once they actually boost Kheldian damage to reasonable levels and
remove the resistance penalty, human form might actually be functional
outside a team.
How they ever managed to consider that the Kheldians as they are now
needed 3 to 1 shotting Q-guns to balance them I don't know.
The Cryptic team must all be wearing Escher glasses.
Anyway, last night I rolled up a stone/axe tanker, and have been merrily
chopping my way through things.
CoH is fun again, and I suddenly realize how much like banging my head
against a wall playing the Peacebringer was.
