Hello,

I have purchased a 7970 for my system along with a new CPU, motherboard, and RAM. Basically, I built a whole new system. When playing World of Warcraft on Ultra setting 1920 x 1080 resolution with AA x8 and AMD CC settings to default I experience horrible frames per second. When lowing the AA to x1 or x2 the frames per second are around 60 - 100 depending on the environment. My system specs are at the link below. Any idea of what the issue may be?

I'm recommending you run it without overclocking at all first and see where your FPS is. If it's still that low or lower then you may have a hardware issue. If everyone buying 7970's was getting FPS like that in WOW then your be hearing a lot more about it.

Edit: otherwise, like Iceclock said, the issue must be somewhere else. If you aren't having a problem in any...
Those numbers do look quiet well :) Your card could handle wow with the setups turned up to max your frames wouldn't suffer a bunch. Yea so nvidia cards may do better with WoW but I'm sure if you turned up settings including AA+AF it wouldn't phase your beast of a card.

I also looked up a SC2 benchmark as well. I have yet to try World of Warcraft with the AMD 12.11 drivers. I am very curious to see how this will play out.

When you say AA+AF are you referring to in-game setting?

I just tried out World of Warcraft in the area I was mentioning a few post up. I am now averaging 55 - 90 FPS on ultra settings in a new area surrounded by a lot of water. All in-game settings are on maximum settings and CCC settings are set to default with my card overclocked to 1075MHZ/1500MHz. How is that?

EDIT: With Vsync enabled I am averaging 55 - 60 FPS.

I know what it does xD I do get screen tearing on my monitor, it is pretty annoying. Also while we are on that subject my monitor is 60Hz and WoW is only allowing me to set 59.9Hz that would have anything to do with it right? Are my frames okay?

With Vsync you are only going to get up to 60 frames that is the point of vsync I would turn off vsync for WoW you should be fine with it being off and shouldn't experience tearing if you do you can turn it back on. And yes I mean in game settings your (multi sampling AA, and texture filtering AF)

And yes your frames are just fine. On my 670 prior to quitting the game I was getting around 110 frames in org with settings all the way up.
