is that thing still available? or abandonware?

if it's available, does it run under XP? say, dosbox?

I just bought the complete package of MM4 MM5 MM6 & MM7 all in one box
for $7 on ebay the other day. and yes, it runs under XP, but some
folks have problems, so if you do you might want to use VDMSound or
DosBox to run it (google those names and you will find them).

MM4 definitely runs fine with VDMSound.

Didn't the "Collector's Edition" of MM6 come with all the earlier MM games?

I bought it as the "Sixpack", the German MM6 plus a CD with all older
MM games, in English. The cover says, "Sixpack I II III IV V VI the
complete CRPG series" (the latter in German)

3/002-2640834-6454466?v=glance&s=videogames&n=289966 (one line) should
be the one to look for.

I was just searching my game closet for another old game and stumbled upon
"M&M6 Limited Edition" which includes M&M1-5.

Ah, sweet. Today, while cleaning out my office, I found a Barnes & Nobles
gift card and I went and picked up Genesis something or other hits and
Idoru by Willy G.

Finding cool stuff is almost as much fun as adventuring. 😉

Waiddaminute. Isn't finding cool stuff half the fun of adventuring? 😛

You know, I must have several hundred boxed games stacked floor to ceiling
in that closet. It is kind of like adventuring to dig through it. It's
certainly a trip down memory lane. For the umpteenth time, I'm wondering
are these games going to someday be like old comics (this from a guy who at
various times in his life has owned the first issues of Mad comics, Mad
magazine and Spiderman comics....all of which got tossed).....worth beaucoup
bucks? Everything eventually becomes "collectible." In terms of net
assets, I place zero value on my games (despite the fact that Kilrathi Saga
used to sell for a few hundred bucks used). Is this wise? Or am I just
kidding msyelf....what I really have is a closet full of obsolete software
and old packaging material.

Check ebay and see what people are getting for them.

Certain games still fetch a pretty good amount but it's really, really rare
for an old game to get as much as a new title. For example, if you had near
mint condition Infocom games, those sell for quite a bit. Mint Ultima games
(original releases) can get quite a bit. Stuff like that. If you're ever
wondering about a particular title search ebay's expired auctions and see
how much it has sold for recently.

As far as ever being worth what a rare comic book is, probably not. There's
a whole collector's mentality surrounding the comic book industry, which
really doesn't exist (ok, it exists, but isn't very popular) with video
games.

I myself have a handful of "originals" that may be worth some money but the
vast majority of my games I have gotten rid of my boxes (actually sold them
to some guy, believe it or not), and so all I have left is the CD or
floppies and MAYBE the manual (if I can find it in one of my boxes where I
stash them all).

I've got some that mean something special to me. The original Wizardry for
the PC, not in mint cond, tho, since I was a boy when I got it and boys
don't take care of things. It's got notes, the pages are well used, and I
even have my maps I wrote on hex paper. 😉 Also the original boxes and
contents of Might & Magic 1-9. The original Fallout 1 & 2. The original
Planescape: Torment. And the "collector's editions" of many of the RPGs
that came out in the late 90's and early "oughts". None of those are
really worth much now, not yet.

My problem is that I'll never sell them, even if they become valuable.
