Question Worse FPS With a New Video Card?

I installed a Tuf 4070 Super OC with a new 750W PSU yesterday. I am now getting worse FPS with Ark: Survival Ascended than I had been when I was using my 2070 Super. All the same settings. I even lowered the settings and still have worse FPS. I have gone from 40fps to 16-18fps.

This cannot be right.

Cpu: Intel i5 12400F
Gpu: Tuf 4070 Super OC
Ram: 32gbs of DDR 4 Corsair Ram
On a NVMe drive.
Windows 11.

Did you use DDU to remove all GPU drivers(Intel, AMD and Nvidia) from your platform in Safe Mode, then manually reinstalling the latest GPU driver sourced from Nvidia's support site in an elevated command?

Make sure - Dynamic super resolution is disabled.

I did not, no. Same monitor as before with a 1440p resolution.

DSR is turned off.

I got it fixed. Asked in the Steam discussion forums for the game and others were having issues as well. Seems they did a dino wipe and that fixed it for them. So, I did a dino wipe and it also fixed the issue for me.

In the ARK there are dinosaurs. When you do a dino wipe, you are wiping the map of all wild dinos, except for those that you have tamed.

Isn't that FBS. I remember on the older motherboards and CPU, when you couldn't overclock from the CPUs BIOS bus you had to manipulate the FBS.

I see you got it fixed now, just in case you come back here again, keep in mind that as your GPU gets more powerfull (like in this case) if you lower the game settings you are probably not going to get more FPS, because you are then pushing more work into the CPU. And the CPU still the same i5 12400F that used to work with the old RTX 2070 Super.

thats probly similar to a type of caching of textures when you do a dino wipe as you say its probly replacing textures kind of like hogwarts legacys shader compiler.
