Question Whenever my monitor is displaying an image that is mostly black it jumps to being 100% black.

Imagine a scene in a video game where most of everything fades to black. Now imagine when it got about 90% black overall your monitor decided to take it all the way to 100%. I got around it by turning on one of the built in blue light filters that happened to make the image brighter, but it was quite annoying. Is this some kind of 'feature' that I can turn off, or a bizarre bug from a cheap monitor? Monitor is an ASUS VG245. Happened in HDMI 2 while playing my nintendo switch. Cannot recreate in HDMI 1 on PC.

Well, its not HDR as the switch and monitor don't support it.

did you look in the menu on monitor to see if there is any difference in settings between both connections

Sounds like you have dynamic contrast on (I think "ASCR" is the ASUS brand name).
