I cant even OC it to 4 ghz without disabling cores...

stock voltage is 1.325 - i set it to 1.375 and started raising multipliers..

3300 mhz - stock
3400 mhz - worked well
3500 mhz worked well
3600 mhz worked well
jumped straight to 4000 cause i was lazy ( ran each test around 20-40 mins )
4000 mhz 1.375 volts, froze..
4000 mhz 1.4 volts, froze..
4000 mgz 1.425 volts, froze..
4000 mhz 1.45 volts froze..

didnt try higher... decided to go 4 core 4,2 ghz 1.415 volts, (after vdrop) stable

mobo = asrock N68C-GS FX ( getting a better one next month )
ram : 1600 mhz kingston hyperx 4gb (2x2gb)
cpu : fx-6100
cooler : scythe ninja 3
gpu : hd5850

i followed that overclock guide step by step and here are results ;

4.5 ghz 1.45 volts turbo removed --> couldnt get into windows
4,5 ghz 1.45 volts removed all energy saving features set fsb etcetc.. -- > windows
4.5 ghz lowering volts for bios.. 1,425--> bios
4,5 ghz 1.4 --> bios
4,5 ghz 1.375 --> bios
4,5 ghz 1.35 --> bios
4,5 ghz 1.325 --> no bios
4.5 ghz 1.375 windows boot ; froze
4,5 ghz 1.4 windows boot : froze
4.4 ghz 1.4 windows boot : froze
4,3 ghz 1.4 windows boot : froze
4,2 ghz 1.4windows boot : success, prime 95 freeze after 3 seconds
4,1 ghz 1.4 same as above
4 ghz 1.4 windows boot : success , prime 95 core 6 stops working after 3 seconds

dont really feel like upping the volts to 1.425...
and the one who posted the OC guide got 4,8 ghz @ 1.298 volts...

like i said, worst fx-6100 ever

I'd imagine the mobo is holding you back on the overclocking front not the cpu, what NB and HT frequency have you set and what cpu NB voltage have you set

no offence but that is a very "budget oriented" motherboard and will hold you back. but as you are finding out; no all chips overclock the same. but i'd think that if you lurk around some forums and see what motherboards seem to get the best results, you'd have a better understand what board to look for when you look to buy one.

in the meantime, at least your getting some experience . .

The asus would be a good motherboard the reason why your having trouble and people are saying same voltage but higher overclock is your motherboard is am2+ socket and although it can support your am3+ processor it will struggle to overclock due to the amperage of the socket, when you get the asus board you will get better overclocks

thats better but try to shoot for this if you can:
ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0 $138.99
$118.99 after $20.00 rebate card

if you do the rebate thing its worth the few extra bucks.

I'm afraid if you want high overclock your not going to get a decent mobo under €100 if your willing to spend that kind of money I'd probably go for this msi one http://www.jimms.fi/tuote/990FXA-GD65 it has its downfalls but its pretty competitive performance with an asus sabertooth and crosshair v and quite a bit cheaper than them both on the site you linked,
read the review and look at the benchmark results too here http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2011/11/22/whats-the-best-bulldozer-motherboard/4

not really looking for a "high" OC, just something between 4-4.5 ghz.

i think ill go with the 80€ ASUS M5A97 R2.0

i posted the EVO because it is a great enthusiast budget board. that A97 is good enough, i didn't understand you were on the other side of the pond, sorry.

i am sure you will get what you are looking for with that choice, i wish you well with that :)

click on each link
http://www.asus.com/Motherboard/M5A97_R20/
and
http://www.asus.com/Motherboard/M5A97_LE_R20/

then on each page tick the box to the left of: Add to comparison list

then on the upper right in the black bar click Compare List

and then the Compare Now button.

good then i ordered the right one.

it says there that the card has

1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (blue)
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode, black)

so was just wondering can i use SLI/CF, well enough?

SLI needs at least a x8 speed and a x4 speed will hurt the performance in crossfire. AFAIK about 10% less than a x8, x8 configuration; which is common.

got the mobo today.

no success oc yet.

i think i just give up.

i have no idea what llc is, i have no idea what offset mode is, i cant run anything over 4 ghz without over 1.4 voltage.

after installed new mobo cant connect to internet with pc.. this sucks
