Why are they even marketing this? The Tbred xp1700 is only around $50. What is the duron going to cost? $30. I think they should spend some more money on developing highend chips.

uh.... what do you think they ahve beendoing for the past how many months... that 'high end chip' is called the opteron or A64!

So Applebred is a horse name? never heard of that one, but then I'm not an expert on the Equine front..

CookieMonster still sounds better if you ask me!

The end is nigh.. (For this post at least)

Morgan is also a common female name where I live, and a Thunderbird is a fast woman (easy to get in the sack)!

A Thoroughbred is a really beautiful woman, but I don´t know about that Applebred though, I´ll look into that this weekend!

It could be anything! Maybe a real sweetie-pie, or a nice plump woman (round as an apple), who knows?

I´m really looking forward to friday and saturday night, oh yeah baby, show me those apples!

I believe we should start a petition, (maybe even a boycott?) for the major chipmakers to change the names of processor’s cores. I mean really, how else are we, the smart, sexy, and down right good looking computer enthusiasts of the world, suppose to break away from the sterotypical view of the computer nerd when we have names like “Applebred”?

I demand a change! I demand justice! Let us unite!!!

yeah! If I'm chatting up some gorgeous babe, and I say "I've got an Applebred'" she'll laugh...
but, if I say, "I've got a 'ThunderPsychoAxeHammer'" she'll beg me to take her home... maybe? 😱

The end is nigh.. (For this post at least)

But maybe is better than not at all...

Besides, how can one be taken seriously when one says "My computer run on a Applebred"? It is like saying "I drive a Geo Metro!" (no offence to those who enjoy the Metros superior miles per gallon)

Have you guys heard about Intel's Q404 names for their CPU's? According to The Inquirer the new names from Intel are:

- Jayhawk processor
- Potomac processor
- Nocona processor
- Dothan processor
- Twin Castle chipset
- Lindenhurst chipset

Why can't they just use simple naming schemes like nVidia and ATi? I like their naming scheme: NV38, NV40, R360, R420. So much simplier.

I myself use AMD and am happy with the CPU.

"Applebred"??? Makes no sense at all. AMD definitely needs someone new in the PR department.

And no there is no such horse breed. I know. Why didn't they just follow the Morgan and Palomino nomenclature???

Applebred, is an odd twist of Appaloosa (the never released Duron) and Thoroughbred. Yes, I know, Appalbred is what it should be, but don't ask me.

I DID state as of Barton, all core Horse name conventions have been dropped.

AMD prolly ran out of them or lost a race lol.

They should have gone with Appaloosa. Sounds better than Applebred. But then again they did go to Barton and Opteron A64. Doesn't matter though as long as they perform like they say about the new CPUs. For all I care they can call the new architecture Horse Manure.
