Hey, i might be thinking of getting a second 7970 ghz edition (gigabyte) i was wondering is it worth the performance increase? How well would it perform on a 1440p resolution. Also if stutter is very likely to happen with these two cards as i sometimes experience it now due to driver issues.

I currently have
I7 3770k
8gb ram dual channel
Gigabyte 7970 Ghz edition 3gb
750 w psu
Asrock extreme 6 mobo

Would my mobo be compatible with crossfire
Also do i need to buy a new PSU
Thanks :)

Your motherboard can handle quad crossfire so you could put on a bunch of them if you wanted...

In my opinion I would not get another 7970... there are just to many problems out there with crossfire right now that I don't think it is worth the risk. I would just stick with what you have it will perform well on 1440p without it needing an extra card. The card you have is good at the time and the next generation is coming out soon anyways.

With the latest beta CCC driver most all of the problems that AMD had with Crossfire is gone and it make a very good Crossfire setup no problem. If you hare getting stuttering now with out Crossfire try turning of Hyperthreading in the BIOS as that is most likely the problem you are having now and does not have anything to do with your GPU. Hyperthreading is not meant for gaming and can infact induce problems with games. Most games do not like the 4 fake cores that are Hyperthreading.

Hmmm, never tried disabling hyperthreading. Ill try turn that off

I've been running a 2600k for quite some time now and I have never seen that, the opposite actually as I've seen some games use 5 and 6 cores on occasion.
