Hey all, this is my first post and I searched this topic, but sorry in advanced if this situation as already been dicussed and answered.
I'm upgrading my desktop with a new processor and mobo and I have a few questions about memory. I'll most likely be going from an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Brisbane @2.2GHz to an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield @ 2.4GHz. The Intel motherboard recommends DDR2 1066, but I already have 4GB of DDR2 800 (Cas 5; 5-5-5-15). I am trying to keep this as cheap as possible and my questions are:
If I do upgrade my memory from 800 to 1066 am I going to be seeing a performance increase and is it worth the money?
Side notes:
I am not an overclocker.
Here is my motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131299
Here is my processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017
If you have a better recommendation to another motherboard please feel free to post it, it just needs to have at least one pci-e 2.0.
Thanks for your help,
Mitch
