Would an i7 4790k work with my motherboard

As the title says will my current motherboard, Gigabyte Z77-D3H be compatible with an i7-4790k or will I need to upgrade my motherboard as I am set on purchasing this particular CPU !

Either upgrade the motherboard to a Z97 or get an i7-3770k CPU.

It depends on your budget. If you can afford to drop at least $500 on the 4790k and a new motherboard, then go for it. If your budget is limited to $350, then you can get a 3770k and overclock it. A heavily-overclocked 3770k can trade blows with a lightly-overclocked 4790k.

it's a very open budget right now and I have seen recommendations on that suggested mother board already so I will probably go ahead and get that combo ! I'm really set on this particular CPU because of aspirations of streaming and have heard nothing but good things about it. Thanks for your help!
