Would getting a Core 2 Quad Q6600 make much difference?

Ive managed to piece together a really low budget PC from ebay and local adverts. I'm currently sitting on a c2d E8400 @ 3.0GHz with a GTX750Ti alongside it. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it would be worth getting a c2q Q6600 to replace the E8400 and if the performance difference would be noticeable or not. I'm thinking of using this PC as a LAN PC to play games like csgo and dota 2. Would these games benefit a lot from the two extra cores?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you will notice a big difference. That chip would be a great partner for the GTX 750ti, but not for more powerful cards when you want to upgrade gpu.

Most AAA games take advantage of more than 2 cores, this isn't 2012 anymore.

OP isn't playing AAA games. Both CS:GO and Dota are mostly dependent on a single thread, so the higher frequency of the E8400 will win hands down.
