Cooler Master Elite Power 460-wattNeed both 6pins. What psu do you have?
I'm trying to get an old PC live again. This is almost always a hard no. As Boju notes, you'll have to tell us the exact PSU for anyone to say if it's the extremely rare exception; I can't think of any PSU that only has a single six-pin connector that you'd ever want to use with a discrete GPU.
Could it run without those 10w? What's the worst case scenario here?Pcie 6pin supplies 75w, pcie slot also 75w, thats 10w less for this card. 160w needs two pcie cables.
So if I put an adapter from the 4pin to make it as 6pin will this solve the power shortage? It shouldn't run but if it does you're risking the psu's 12v rail the card is connected to, the psu could pop and destroy anything connected to it. And this psu is only 70% efficient, it's more like around a 430w.
i would say that it wouldnt work. i would suggest picking up a solid quality psu for cheap lots out there for cheap dont need to go crazy expensive. then you are fine.I have this GPU with 2 6pin connectors, the PSU can power it but has only 1 6 pin connector. If I used that cable would it be considered a problem? Or am I good to go?
I used it for a while and it worked flawlessly. But I was asking how safe I am keeping them oni would say that it wouldnt work. i would suggest picking up a solid quality psu for cheap lots out there for cheap dont need to go crazy expensive. then you are fine.
