Hello, I was looking to buy my little brother a pc. Preferably a pre-built, my budget was is about $1000-$1300 max after taxes. Its going to be used for school but im sure gaming mainly. He's really into Apex, Fortnite, and Warzone atm. He wants to play games like valorant and csgo when he does get a pc. Any help will greatly appreciated and thank you again.

You can go to a PC store and ask them or get a professional. Wont cost you much to get it assembled but it would be way better.

Lots of compromises to fit those two in that budget.

Agreed but those are easier to deal with IMO. For example a power supply or set of ram is a lot cheaper than the cpu or gpu especially.

Also has a cheap board for that kind of CPU. Changing all of these will void the warranty and increase the cost to around the same as self built. Kind of defeats the purpose.

you want the components to be new or used? during the gpu shortages, gpus are expensive, i suggest you to buy a used gpu. i can choose a good gaming pc for only $500(used components) if you want.

On graphics if you are going used, there appear to be 1070's on ebay for about 400ish, which would be slightly better than a vanilla 1660.

If budget is a concern, you might even leave the rest of the above build the same and go for the i3 10100. Do you have microcenter nearby? If so, the one near me has been having 6600xt cards for 500. Which is high, but if you are spending 429 for a 1660 you might as well go for the better card for a little more.

1660 ti is a decent card. I didn't have a ti, I used to have a super. It's about performance of a 1070.

If you do have microcenter nearby, this is the 6600xt the one by me has had in stock.
