I currently have a Gt 640 and I'm looking to upgrade, I have 8 gig of ram and an Intel core i5. I'm stuck between a gtx 960 and a gtx 760, I can't really afford a 970 now, any help would be appreciated. I only plan on using it for gaming, not any video editing or serious cgi editing or something

yes it's a great card! I can run shadows of mordor @ all high settings, not ultra though because of the vram.

May average fps was 62 and my minimum is 48fps :)

I'm sure you'll be able to have a stable 60+ frames with an i5 since my cpu is a bit of an ancient aging processor now.. lol :) best of luck!

edit: I'd go for the gtx 960 since it's newer and uses less power :)
Gtx 960 is more powerful and faster than 760, and it will support the new nvidia features, consume less energy, will take bigger time to become obsolete. I have a gtx 970, and i really love it. I would go by gtx 960.

Actually from a performance per dollar standpoint the 960 is untterly dismal. You would be better off buying a GTX670 FTW 😀

that's funny, the GPU heirachy chat shows that 960 is on par with the 670
Discrete: GTX 580, GTX 670, GTX 960

go with the 960.
760's are really hard to get ahold of but if you can get the 4GB version at $250 it's worth it.

$219.99

Yea, it is a option to consider 😀

Will the extra 2 gig really help, because I have the option of a 4 gig 960 for 363.98$
I'm thinking of the msi 960 armor for 285.95$
Usually the price of everything computing related are quite more expensive in my country

woah.. for 363.98$ I can buy a gtx 970 in my country, worth it? it depends on some games like GTA 5 and shadows of mordor. Sure it will but that price is for a gtx 970 O_O

Man, South Africa sucks, for almost everything they just decided, Hey why not, just slap another $100 on it, that's fair
For a Titan X here it costs like $1500 tell me that's not bullshit

🙁 .. anyways.. if you don't mind the extra dollar on the 4 gig vram version. Like I said it will be worth it on some games like GTA 5! :) go for it 😉

Funny thing is however, I got a Galaxy GTX670 GC V2, which is built on a GTX680 PCB and has nearly identical performance (within 1-4 FPS) for $140. ForNever on Overlock.net gave me his old 680 block for free and I was able to add the card to my loop for an overall cost of $150. Call me lucky, but if you know where to look and what to buy computers get very cheap.

EDIT: Still, the 960 will give you WHAY WHAY better results then what you have now, I was just trying to save you a pretty penny. Happy gaming!
