There's a game on Steam that has some serious issue when it comes to Error codes and bugs which is caused from the game being ported over from one system to the PC poorly, I don't see the Development team fixing these bugs or the cause of these Error codes any time soon, so I took the time to go in myself to fix these issue. I found a way around some bugs and that's by giving out my "save data " (which was created from the game and that I'm going to copy over to the fix file) and fixed Error codes and crash that was caused in game ( I did that by getting the error code on purpose and fixing it from modifying the Game coding, and implanting some missing DirectX files )

now here comes the question from up above with the time I put into this with the Aggravation, Stress, and the work time I think I deserve some profit off of this and I was thinking about selling this to people for a really really low cost (.50 cents) but since all of this came from a game and I went in and did some changes to fix some stuff and I'm giving this file out to people would it be considered pirating

Also worth to note the people still need the game to run the dll. files and my "Save data folder" (so no interference with there sale), the developer said that they were open to modification to the game (It's not a online game like GTA, its a single player RPG) , and they wont get Trophies or Achievements in steam (tested this with another account I had that owns the game too)

if this is considered piracy then let me know why it would be considered piracy so I don't upload it online

Reselling games is legal, so I can't imagine why this wouldn't be.
Piracy is unauthorised production of someones work, you're simple correcting broken code.
Even still, you might want to contact the developer, maybe even try to sell the code to him.

You very well might need permission to resell this, because you are REselling it. However, that is up to the publisher.

If I had typos on page 158 in my book "The Greatest Book Ever", would you fix the typos and resell page 158 as your own work?

Or are you just selling a patch file like a .ppf? Either way, yes, contact the publisher.

I agree on contacting the developer, always the best way. However, I'm not sure monetizing saved games is covered, you might try reading the EULA. Unless it expressly states something like "any distribution of this code or any part of this code will be viewed as a violation" you are probably okay.

There used to be a market for trading saved games a long time ago, probably still is.

thank you for the reply glad to hear that my bug fixing work wont go to waste lol, I'm now going to contact the developer team and sell them the code to make some type of profit off of the work and stress lol

I will go and double check on the EULA because it didn't clearly or expressly state anything about distribution of codes, but thank you for your responds

it's a patch file along with some save data that I got from my own gameplay ( I even replayed the game and saved in every level because people couldn't move out of a certain area in different floors in the game which should be fixed with the file but its a safety net as in if it doesn't work for some they can always resort to loading from one room next to get out of that one room) I'm going to check the EULA to see if that is allowed if so then i will contact them and ask.

thanks for your reply

Better watch out when talking about piracy here! The "Moderators" went ape*** on me when I asked about piracy and they told me if I post something else about the issue, I'll be banned!
