Sorry if I sound noobish but I ive been looking at games minimum requirements for pc cpu for a while now and they are getting awfully close to my current cpu so i started to do some research. I started to think about swapping out my fx8320(i know its old T.T) but it runs games okay. I planned on going for a ryzen 5 1600x or maybe 2600x undecided. I already know im going need to change my mb and ram but for my gpu I was unsure. I currently have an rx580 and I went onto the bottleneck calculator website and it said it would 100% bottleneck the 1600x. Just out of curiosity is this 100% true and what exactly would happen? Thanks for all the replies

From my experience, the 2600x is a terrible idea. It’s almost $40 (in the us) for just barely higher performance from the normal 2600.

for the time being for ram i haven't really gone in to research mode but maybe something like corsair or gskill (16gb ofc) but not 100% sure yet about brand. But for my current computer i have a corsair vengeance ddr3 16gb.

Okay then I most likely will go for the ones without x but then is there a significant difference between the 1600 and 2600? I checked a site and there is only like 6% roughly so im not really sure if its justifiable to go for it.

ooof fortnite i quit that game lol was a fan of it at first before they added all those powers and flying stuff. But I mostly plan on running rainbow 6,occasional league of legends once in a while to scratch that itch, some pubg cause that game hurts my soul on how horrible optimization is, and a some rocket league and of course the triple A titles.

Okay i will definitely keep this in mind. But off what you said earlier and doing some digging im most likely going to go for 2600 i won't mind the slight clock difference. If i find a really good sale/deal for the 2600x i will go for it.
