[citation][nom]gizmogamez[/nom]the kid was not moved anywhere!!!!! it takes 5 min to drive across Barrie, its not a big city maybe 150k ppl. so the lady was NOT arrested for that. she IS being arrested for luring a minor back in either the US (dont care if they are state or federal charges, but it sounds to me like she is facing state charges since the age of consent is higher then 16 in Texas...[/citation]

She was helping provide means, she will be arrested for interstate transport. Weither he actually moved or not is not the issue, it is the fact he was not accompanied by a lawful guardian nor with permission to leave his place of residency. How about I just go ahead and say she will be charged with kidnapping so you can understand what all the law covers in that situation.

I have 10+ years of experience in determining this things, you?

"Texas woman charged with luring Ont. teen
Last Updated: Wednesday, January 6, 2010 | 6:57 AM ET Comments65Recommend49

CBC News

A Texas woman was arrested Tuesday for allegedly luring a 16-year-old boy from Barrie, Ont.

The woman, Lauri Price, a 42-year-old mother of four, is charged with two counts of online solicitation of a minor and one count of child enticement.

Price was arrested as she returned to Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Police in Barrie believe Price flew into Canada on Dec. 29, rented a car and picked up the teenager at his home.

A subsequent search ended when the pair were later spotted in Orillia, Ont.

The boy was returned to his parents unharmed.

Price was released by Canadian authorities, but arrested upon her return to Texas, where the age of consent is 17. In Canada, the age of consent is 16.

Price is being held in jail with bail set at $310,000 for the three charges she is facing.

The teenager and Price apparently started a relationship two years ago through an online fantasy game."

[citation][nom]rodney_ws[/nom]Go to Cambodia to have sex with an 8 year old boy and see if the feds are waiting for you when you get back...[/citation]

I believe that would be a crime against humanity.

C'mon, everyone knows that the only people allowed to have sex with 16 year olds in Texas are their relatives. Duh!

[citation][nom]pooflinger1[/nom]First, she did take the kid with her. They were spotted at a FUTURE SHOP. Future shop is the Canadian equivalent of Best Buy (and owned by them as well). Since the store ONLY exist in Canada, there is no way that they could have been spotted at one in the US, so she MUST have taken, or enticed the boy to go to Canada with her. The Canadian govt only said that since it was not illegal in Canada (since 16 is age of consent), that they would not press further charges. Had the boy been 15, she would probably have been charged in both the US and Canada since they were in both countries. The way the story reads, it says she was arrested on (during) the flight back home, which means she must have still been within the US since it would otherwise require extradition by the Canadian govt. And as for my last sentence, I was implying that if you bought it in that country, not if you just traveled. If that were the case, people would be getting arrested all the time for something they did in other countries.[/citation]

LOL do you get that Ontario is *in Canada*? She went to Canada, tried to meet the kid's parents and/or hook up with him, and apparently the incident was high enough profile for US police to board the same flight and arrest her as the plane entered the US (or, more likely, they simply arrested her as she was deplaning in TX).

[citation][nom]gizmogamez[/nom]sry but that makes no sense! pot is illegal in many places, lets all go to Amsterdam, then get arrested when we get back...????[/citation]

Hey it's Canadian law but I guess there is a different set of rules than when you are inside Canada. If I am correct those are related with crime againt a person such as murder, sexual abuse and stuff like that. I don't think you could make jail time for smoking pot. If I can get more info about it I will post it.

You are suggesting there is some sort of law in the US (or it's states) about the act of smoking pot... I defy you to find one. Hint: production/possession/transportation is *not* the same as consumption.

last i checked, you had to actually have possession of pot to smoke it...unless you are already stoned and just think your smoking a joint in your mind.

Dogofwars, I believe if we do something classed as illegal in say china (like shoot someone) and then come back here we can not be charged under cdn law. however china can ask to have us extradited so that we can be charged there, also I believe that depending on the situation (say murder in china) cdn officials have been known to allow a person to be charged by a foreign government and then jailed here. (stupid protect a fellow cdn thing kinda)...
I remember like a month ago a priest was charged with child porn when he landed back home in canada because he had pic of himself and little boys on his laptop, but they didn't charge him with anything to do with sex involving a minor since he paid for the kid and did whatever leagely in the country he visited...
not saying it's right...just remember the points of the story

bottom line here....this is Barrie we are talking about....the same city where I took home a 45yo stripper and then ended up dating her 19yo daughter for 2 months lol

[citation][nom]thackstonns[/nom]Ok while I dont agree with her doing this. How do I not commit a crime in another country, but get arrested when I am back home for a crime. Its like gambling in Vegas and having the local cop arrest you for it when you get home. Or going to a prositute in Amsterdam, and then get brought up on charges when you get back. Can someone explain it to me, because I am just not getting it.[/citation]

That is how we do it in the Lone Star State 😉

I am not suggesting about smoking pot, I am talking about a Canadian doing a crime outside of Canada can be in trouble when he/she come back to Canada. When I talk about a crime it's a crime against a person like murder and sexual abuse.

my understanding of it is that because she was in Texas when she started the online "relationship" she can be charged with "child enticement". if she had been in canada when she had met him or talked to him then gone back to Texas they would have nothing.

I was under the impression that even though the age of consent here is 16, that both parties still had to be under 18yo, and that if you had a case like this you can still charge the woman, since she is over 18y of age and he is a minor.
however, i can understand that the cops here could of been willing to not charge her knowing (or having already talked with cops in Texas) that it would be easier and result in a harsher punishment if she was charged in Texas under "child enticement".
I have heard of cops doing this before....

this lady was my latin teacher! thats so fucking weird she was really cool until we found out she fucked a 16 year old she let us do what ever we wanted everone found out today

For someone who stays home from school to play WoW, this kid must have had almost no computer skills. He didn't delete the MSN chat logs, or password his computer so his parent(s) couldn't look at his online activities. He deserves to get caught for that amount of stupidity.

So this isn't strange then? Just strange to those who are not from Barrie? Seems like an interesting place to me really.

Well to be honest playing WoW (or any MMO) all day doesn't mean you know a thing about computers at all.

He actually look younger than his age if the photo is not too old. I imagine they had web cam, they probably had time to inspect each other through those web cam etc. So basically she could be into a lot more trouble than she actually is. I don't think they will believe in "He told me he was 20" even if the logs says. They exchange picture and probably use web cam to see each other, would you believe the guy would be 20 when he look younger than 16??? She will probably have a child predator record now!

"Price wasn't so lucky on her flight back home, however, as she was arrested on the plane towards Bush Intercontinental Airport due to the age of consent in Texas being 17."

Good point. Simple games.. Ppl with no idea on how to operate their antivirus programme can do ok in WoW

The overall point is that a kid who probably would have never see some POON did. And a an older woman rocked his in-game and RL World. Good for him sad for her if she new his real age..(only if she knew his real age.) which I assume she didn't. Make Love and not Warcraft.
