Question WoW lagged then monitor turned off ?

My wife was playing WoW on her laptop when her game started lagging horribly. Eventually it froze up and she had to hard reset it. When we turned it back on the external monitor stayed off as if it wasn't plugged in. Checked all cords connections etc nothing is unplugged. Changed hdmi cable no change. Tried using her laptop with my own monitor, wouldn't turn my monitor on either. Sometimes it'll show just the cursor but eventually the screen goes black as if it's turned off/hibernating.

Her main laptop monitor was broken by our kid over a year ago. Hence she's been using my old monitor to play which had worked fine before.

I cannot provide any info on the machine since I can't see anything.

Any suggestions?

Make and model of your wife's laptop?

Her main laptop monitor was broken by our kid over a year ago.
As for her laptop, does the laptop's display work? If not then it's possible that the GPU in her laptop said goodbye.
