Hi Gurus
I have a 8gig installed memory Linux desktop computer with an ASUS p5q Motherboard.

When I write a 4.5+gig file from my hard disk to the external USB drive, formatted EXT3, the target file arrives corrupted. If I remove two banks of 2 gigs (bring the system down to 4 gigs), there is no problem whatsoever. I would like to retain the system at 8gigs.

And fyi, internal partition to partition copies are flawless. (no errors).

If the file is less than 4 gig in size, there does not appear to arrive corrupted.
One more point, if the target partition is a USB drive formatted NTFS, there is no problem.

Is it hardware or software, Opinions and suggested solutions please.
