Hello, I am looking to put together a gaming rig around an old GTx 480 I have. I'm looking to spend around 400$ on a Mobo, CPU, Ram, case and PSU.

The components don't have to be 2 weeks old, but I would prefer them to be in good condition both visually and physically. I will take a scratched item like the PSU or case, depending on how bad it is.

I would prefer to use an AMD Fx6300 6 core mobo or better. Preferably a good AMD one for 100$-ish or lower

A mobo like an Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+ or something similar

A PSU that's brand name, and at least 750 watts like a Corsair 750W ATX12V / EPS12V

A full Tower that can fit a long GPU, and has nice airflow like Cougar Evolution-W ATX Full Tower

1x4gb or 2x4gb of DDR3 (2133 or higher) RAM- Depending on the price, I am willing to go to lower clocked RAM as long as it's brand name.

I live in the Western part of the North-Central United states, I am willing to pay for shipping. Payment options can be discussed with the seller.

You do know that 1600 mhz ram will perform similar to 2133 in most situations. Also do you need a 750 watt power supply for sli or what is the need. Not trying to discourage but allow you to see a wider range of parts that will fill the job.

i do have a giggy 990fxa UD3 (ver 3.0) if interested. PM for details.
you won't need RAM speed above 1866 on AM3+ platform for any gains.

I plan on upgrading this system, and I don't want to replace anything but possibly the CPU. The GTX 480 requires at least a 600w PSU, and the 6 core CPU would also take a toll on the PSU.

As I said above, I am planning on swapping out the 480 for a 290 or 2x280's in Crossfire.

Also now that I've done more research, I am more willing to buy lower clocked RAM, as I found out that after a certain speed, the benefits do not outweigh the cost

I just meant that most people have 1600 mhz ram and it is easier to find for a great price. Also sorry for missing the upgrade info. I still can;t see it but i guess im blind. Anyhow a 750 is a good psu for that. Are you sure you need 2 280s for gaming.

I have a MSI 970A-G46 + FX-6300 (Mobo + CPU combo) barely used (bought 1 month ago from NCIX) and ended up selling my gaming PC in parts.

Willing to let them go for 150$.

Let me know if you're interested
