I am building a new PC, primarily for gaming, for the new RTX 5080. I think I will put in the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Would it be better to go with the X670-E or the X870 motherboard ?
They are similar in price. Right now I can't decide between these two:

1) MSI MAG X670E TOMAHAWK WIFI

2) MSI MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI

Which would make the most sense?

Thank you.

Main difference is in chipset abilities and features, USB4 as well as number of PCIe lanes and generation.
If similar enough price, I would go for newer chipset because why not.

Think it depends n what you want to spend if your budget will allow it the the x870e because it will have the better features think they come with wifi7 now by default and gen 5 m.2 slots which can both be great ..

Money wise if the x670e is cheaper your only losing out on some i guess so so features in the grand scale, its not like its got no wifi or gen 3 m.2 slots !!

I plan at some point on buying a 9950x3d or the 9800x3d and slide it right into my Asus rog crosshair gene board which was my intention from the start to use the same board till AM6 hence the $970 aud price tag ..
