Use this aftermarket cooler. Very effective and cools graphics card really well, makes a big difference compare to stock cooling. It's silent and vents out heat back and out of the case so it helps reduce the temperature inside the case as well. Replacing the thermal compound with Artic Silver 5 also helps lower the temps a bit.

I have used Artic Cooling Silencers before and Im very impressed.

Make sure you have enough space to use this aftermarket cooler.

I have a Saphire rad x850xt. I was running ati tool for about 10 minutes just with the 3d view and no overclocking and its going over 100 degrees is there a problem with the cooler - its a stock cooler.

THAT IS SCARY HIGH! just incase somebody dosen't know... water [H2O] boils at 100°C and anything for GPU's that high is REALLY BAD and most likely will kill your card eventually or soon. I HIGHLY recommend getting some arctic silver 5 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835100007 ) if you don't already have some, and apply a rice sized amount (directions to put the compound on the gpu are on AC's website http://www.arcticsilver.com/arctic_silver_instructions.htm ) to the core.

Otherwise I hope you enjoy the nice smell of burning GPU core lol... 8O

I have a NorthPole 1000 hsf on my x800xt and im running it at 540-570 (best is 570/610 but not stable). I have mounted the fan that comes with retail athlon64 hsf (it's a 80mm 3500rpm) on the nortpole and keeps my card 53-54C at load and 35-37C idel (depends on ambient).

I would like to know what success have other ppl had with this card and alternative cooling. Will putting some heat sinks on the memory and a fan give it more stability cos I can push the mem to about 610 but beyond 570 it aftifacts? Can changing some mem timings help?

Anyone tried to put a CPU hsf on the card ???

i would disconnect your card right now, and start using integrated graphics if you have them or a crappy tnt or something you have laying around... not only am i scared of your card getting ruined, but i'm scared you'll start a forestfire or something

I'm running stock x850xt at 604 mhz... on stock cooling.

The trick to it is: add more voltage

My memory craps out at 615.. so i have it at 600 aswell.

Thats 102 F not celcius!. your running 60 C. Left side is F and right is C.

I'm not sure if you're joking or not in this statement, I sense no sarcasm... so I'll correct you 😛

60C is definitely not 102F. The human body temperature is 37.9 or something like that isn't it? And I know that's only in the high 90F ...
so 60C would be like 140F or something crazy like that.

I think the 2 temps in ATI tool is the chip and ambient temp perhaps, or another temp measurement, but they are definitely both in C... not F.

My 2 cents here, I think the heatsink is probably not on 100% right. I'd take the card out, and remove the heatsink.. Clean off the factory junk that's on there and put on some good stuff and re-assemble. 100C would almost certainly spell some kind of disaster I'd think. As someone else mentioned, water boils at that temp... can't be good for silicon either :)

100 c is too hot but the card will handle it.
he definatly has something wrong.

my 6800gt ran at 110 to 115 c for 2 months under load
before i found the problem. dust in the heat sink

and it played fine that way

it is now at 50c and still running great
