X99 or Z97 build

Should I get this x99 build http://pcpartpicker.com/p/n46B99 or this z97 build? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/FwyghM I will be gaming with mild to mid overclocking. I will also be recording editing and rendering videos that I record from my computer or my PS3. A lot of people say z97 is gaming oriented but x99 is gaming and editing and future proof. So which one will preform better and is worth the money? Give me some reasons.

You'll find that the x99 will have a good performance increase over the z97 when it comes to rendering videos, those extra cores really help, also you can get a x99 up to 64G of RAM, video rendering can chew RAM up in no time, so I would suggest if you get either one to get more then 16G of RAM.

X99 isnt really futureproof, it will probably only last 1-2 years maximum before being replaced.
Either option would perform fine, but you really wouldn't notice a huge difference between the two processors unless you are rendering huge projects, or rendering more than a couple of videos a week. A bigger difference would be seen by getting the cheaper Z97 build and putting more cash into other parts.

Pretty much, if you believe that having slightly shorter render times is worth the extra $160, then go ahead.

However, you could get a bigger SSD with the money you save, or more RAM, which would benefit video editing.

I agree. I suggest 32GB of RAM or more if possible.

Well it all does depend on how big the projects are really. I do occasional video editing on my computer and I just have a Core i5 4690K. I use adobe premiere pro.
