Anyone here using a Xaser III case? If so what do you think of it? I read the THG review of it, which pulled me away from the Antec 1080AMG I was planning on getting, but I'd like to hear from some owners first.

Since I reviewed it, I have used it.

Nice case good design, and the biggest bonus is that it is a lot lighter than the 1080.

personally for price and features id buy the 1080AMG. it ways as much as a bull but i still lug it around to lan parties. ive also got a xaser III and unless u want an aluminium case i wouldnt buy it. with power supply they are 2.5x more expensive than a 1080AMG.

www.antec-inc.com is the site for the 1080amg

I guess it was the 7 fans that led me astray, but since I'm putting 3rd party HSF on the CPU and Northbridge, it would just be over-kill ( I hope). I have to say I do like the fan that Antec puts right in front of the hard drive cage.

i like my X3, but i do not like how it has 6 HDD bays, i dont need that many, it would be nice to take the bottom three out, but o wait, you cant 🙁

Ill have a Sapphire 9600pro for sale as soon as i get it back. Had to RMA and theyre sending me a new one!

It's too bad that with the way the 1080 case is set up that using any oversized video card forces you to use the upper two slots in the drive cage (if you have two drives). I'd like to use the top and botton slots for better air movement, but the cables cramp up against the end of the video card. Makes the drive fan all the more important.

As far as I know they're both the same chassis design and both made by the same manufacturer, obviously they have different face panels and one is aluminum, while the other steel.

I have a Xaser II, in terms of quality, it feels really strong and well-built. It's quite heavy though, at least compared to my old generic mid-tower or the new PC-71 I'm setting up.
