XBOX 360 Controller Not Detected On Windows 8.1

I have an Afterglow XBOX 360 Controller and it works fine on my previous computer which has windows 8 installed.However after getting a new PC that has Windows 8.1 installed, the controller can't be detected.Can someone please help?

Some people have the same problem, it seems it doesn't like win 8.1 very much, here is a possible solution I found:

You probably just need to mess around with manual driver installation and compatibility it seems.

In the responses there are a few suggestions for people that have got theirs to work.
Normally most controllers automatically install drivers, but it appears this one has compatibility issues with win 8.1.

One suggestion listed was to connect the controller (Uninstall any previously installed drivers) install the win7 drivers from here:

Then leave the controller connected as you restart the computer, apparently this worked for someone.

How do I install the drivers in compatibility mode?

I've tried to install the drivers and even restarted my computer.Nothing works! Could please help to spread this thread so that I can find a solution to my problem
