The 360 does not overheat anymore with the newer ones. That is a fact. The disk drive doesn't fail as much now because microsoft uses a new manufacturer now. Fact. BUT the 360, despite not failing as much, STILL has the FREE 3 year warrenty. So you get a console with superior games, better graphics, better internet service, failure rate at acceptable levels AND a free 3 year warrenty. MS is adding blu-ray to the 360 this holiday season (maybe later) which will completely negate any advantages the PS3 has over it.

Except that games will still be released exclusively on DVD, so titles like Rage will look worse and will require multiple discs. The Xbox360 still doesn't have Wi-Fi, Free online, Bluetooth support, upgradable hard drives, a web browser, and more. 😀

I dont get why ppl make posts like this. Buy which ever system has the most games you want, or buy both? Its not like your glued to only one console.

And the 360 RROD is always blown out of proportion. Its not THAT common. Ive never had any problems with my 360.

But, if you want an opinion... Id say 360 because the PS3 has NO GOOD exlusives and the rest are just 360/PC ports.

When I see a report with stadistics confirm about you say, I will recomend buy a 360 and I will buy one. About graphics, doesn´t exist really great difference between both. About bluy-ray unit, if you want, it will cost some extra cash, but remember PS3 have a good functionality with its blue-ray control remote.

I owned both consoles. While the games are on the Xbox are miles better than the PS3 I much prefer the PS3 simple for the fact I can media stream, copy over movies to the hard drive, I also increased the hard driver from 40GB to 320GB. I can play divx movies no probem whatsover etc.
On the 360GB because my elite rrod'ed I had to get it replaced. I used the same hard drive from the old one and still offline access for my arcade games wouldn't work, offline access for the my movies wouldn't work.. reason?? DRM!!!. Sure you can create a new account and redownload the codecs but for the arcade games ? ur screwed...
MS has still refused to fix this for people who have had to replace their consoles and this has been ongoing for the last 3 years..

You can get wi-fi for it, but it does not come with the console built in. I would rather pay 5 dollars a month for xbox live than get the crap service offered on the PS3. A 20 gig hard drive is good for games, the 60 gig allows you to put all your games and alot of download able stuff on it, and the 120 gig just blows everything away. The Web browser is crap on the PS3. It seems that all you did is list things the PS3 has not included on the 360, regardless of why it's not there or how important it is. You sound like Sarah Palin.

And someone said they like the PS3 for video streaming, you can do the EXACT SAME THING on the 360 through windows media center. This fall, if you have an able netflix account, you will even be able to watch their DVD's in high def (the ones allowed to stream on the computer) at no extra cost, provided you already pay for xbox live and a netflix account.

Brilliant, try and bring politics into the discussion. :pt1cable:

I have a 120GB hard drive on my 360, but I have a 200GB 7200RPM drive in my PS3. I don't want to pay $100 for the Wi-fi adapter from Microsoft, and I'd rather have my free PSN than continue to pay for Gold. Sure the 360 can stream video just like the PS3 can, but the thing is so much louder, making me use the PS3 more. You are also able to copy any streamed media to the hard drive on the PS3, something Microsoft currently doesn't allow. You also say you get to use Netflix at no extra cost, except for Xbox Live Gold which I currently don't pay for, and I don't even have a Netflix account, nor do I want one. If Xbox Live is so great, why does Microsoft impose a 300MB limit on how large Live Arcade games can be? Now I know the new Portal downloadable is about 640MB, but I downloaded a game on PSN that was over 9GB, making it obvious which company is truly serious about digital distribution.

On another note, Little Big Planet just came out, and so far I've had more fun with it than any title I own or have played on the Xbox 360.

What may hurt PS3, aside from the 360 price drops and it's titles, is Blu-ray players have dropped in price. I bought my PS3 because this time last year the PS3 was $399, the same price as a stand-alone Blu-ray player. I'm glad now I have the PS3, and play it a lot. But that being said, it's my first console since the Sega 16-bit, and had Blu-ray players been $250 like they are now, I probably wouldn't have a PS3.

Wii + PC = gratification

I also have a 360 and would never go near a PS but that is due to deep rooted fanboyisnm dating back to when i won the one of the first 2 Saturns to enter the country in Match magazine....ahh the memories xD

In terms of technical arguments, 360 controller is better. I never held a PS controller but i dont need to. If its as good as the 360 controller then they copied MS. It cannot be better as the 360 controller is perfect.

I know the feeling; I hated the PS2 because I was an early adopter of the Dreamcast and what was basically an inferior console ended up killing one of the best systems ever. Also, the 360 controller is far from perfect; the D-pad is a piece of ****, and they use some proprietary wireless frequency instead of a standard like Bluetooth. Also, if you want to use a wireless 360 controller on the PC, you need to buy Microsoft's wireless adapter where the PS3's controller can be plugged in with a standard usb cable. While it's not officially supported by Sony, the controller has worked fine in my experience with homemade drivers I found online. It's nice that the controllers also come with a rechargable battery built in, and the motion sensor is a nice touch when you aren't losing any other functionality with the Dualshock 3. Really though, I'm nitpicking and both controllers are very comfortable and functional.

I think it's more of personal preference thing since the layout on both is roughly the same. Some prefer it being bigger/smaller. My friends 360 controller seems like a dinner plate compared to the PS3. Sony was in a tough spot after all the PS/PS2 sales, they were kind of painted into a corner on the design IMO.

lulz my controller comment was more meant to signify my complete ignorance around anything technical to do with todays comments.

I cant really say the D-Pad ever gets used, except for quick weapon switching, or hotkeying.
I am prepared to pay extra to use a 360 controller with a PC as it is better, regardless of whether it is a needless expense.

By the way im a RROD victim. I stumpled across an x clamp fix earlier - has anyone tried this?

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=595746

To head off the "lol fanboy your console sucks coz its broke" comments....i own 2 Xbox 360's 😀

You'll head off "fanboy" comments? But you claim a 360 controller is better although by your own admission you've never even held a PS3 controller?

Thank you for sparing us any fanboyism....

I've heard that the x clamp fix works quite well; I didn't attempt it on my Elite when I got the RROD because I'm still under warranty, but if I were without warranty I would definitely give it a shot. I know we like to joke about 360 hardware being bad (statistically it is the most likely to fail) but I've actually had my PS3 break on me as well. My Blu-ray drive stopped reading discs so I have have had to send in BOTH my Xbox 360 and PS3 for repairs. Maybe I have bad luck... :??:

How long have you had it? My bud with an early 60gb has had a few "issues" with his, but nothing requiring a repair. It just acts odd sometimes and needs a few reboots.

I had it for 11 months before the Blu-ray drive died, so I was just barely in warranty. I had experienced no issues prior to the drive failing. I was playing Metal Gear Solid 4 about to fight Laughing Octopus when an icon appeared in the top left corner of a disc and a question mark, alternating. Other than that and the RROD, I haven't had any problems with my consoles. My Wii has never had an issue, but in fairness it doesn't get used nearly as much as the PS3 or 360.

As awesome as the Wii is, at least to me it's a more social, usually drunken, thing.

Recently we've been using the PS3 as the social console thanks to Little Big Planet, but I don't know how well playing it drunk would work. 😛

Given the choice between PS3 of the 360, here's my living room setup

PS3: Most of my favorite console games can be played on it and sometimes there's just no replacing the gamepad. Thanks to box set discounts and $20 price cuts my BluRay library is growing almost weekly.

Wii: Mario Kart and Smash Bro. It's brought out at least 1/wk, after band practices and/or BBQs.

PC: My main gaming platform, there's nothing that compares to the control you have with a mouse or joystick. Given the option of PC or PS3, I'll go with the PC every time. I'll rarely buy any game for both with the exception of Fallout, Orange Box and Oblivion, (or Bioshock strictly on the PS3 due to their DRM).

...Excuse me, gotta get back to Fallout :)

Gears of War 2 just came out yesterday and it's awesome if you can get 4 friends to play Horde mode with. Me and 3 other guys were doing system link and we're currently stuck on wave 10 on Insane.

well, the RRoD is less common now due to new parts and better cooling performance being fitted so I don't see no reason to go for the Xbox 360 and there is a new dashboard coming out in 2weeks. The internet service isn't that dear, only 40GBP a year, or around 30 on eBay lol 😀
http://www.xbox.com/en-us/live/nxe/ << Check that out

I just don't like the PS3, it's ugly, overpriced and... the online is laggy and I just don't like the interface and the controllers etc. That's why I sold it. I love the 360, it's just so pro and badboy looking 😀 And you can fully customise the dashboard...!

This new update is going to be amazing.! anyone going to second me on this????

Extremely nitpicking, does it matter if Xbox uses a wireless signal rather than bluetooth? and you can use Xbox 360 controllers on PC too, although you need to buy the adaptor, I think you're scraping at excuses hear 🙁 being a huge fan of the PS3, you're using anything to put the 360 down :pt1cable:

You're entitled to your opinion though :)

what am i on about lol, sorry i meant to say being a fan of the 360 you're using anything to put it down*

im beggining to wonder if you actually do own a 360... ? :)
