And honestly I can't think of a single reason why you would need a hard drive bigger than the 120GB one that is already provided. If you are downloading movies and such on your Xbox 360 you are already wasting money so the extra cost for the HDD shouldn't bother you too much anyway.

i totally agree with that theres no reason to d/l movies on your 360..just hook up an external drive (can't complain about the price there) or hook it up to your network...imo the 360 is pretty good with letting you do a lot of stuff so in the end i'm a happy customer

It is just the accessory market for consoles. Look at any of them they all are making a huge profit on their accessories. People always say about how cheap the Wii console is, however they don't add in the fact that the accessories required for all the functions adds up to be more than the console itself. Same with Sony and Xbox. Microsoft is making such profit over this like any company, however, if customers keep buying it at the current prices why would the companies change? They have their own lives in best interest. If you were in their shoes would you not want to keep making so much money? Having all that money income changes people. Personally I want to get a new and bigger HDD for my xbox and I am glad that the 250gb is out. Now I can get more space for my money over the 120gb even though regular PC hard drives are dirt cheap.

I like to store movies (HD) and music on my PS3 (I use it as my HTCP), that is why I have a 320Gb drive, and to be quite frank my drive is 80% full, later on I will upgrade to the 640Gb just to have more than enough space for all my media. I can understand the average user that will not even fill up the 250Gb drive but as far as Im concerned 130.00$ is a steep price to pay for only 250Gb. 70.00$ more and you can get a brand new x-box =0

[citation][nom]CptTripps[/nom]Let's tell the truth this time around.360 Elite "with" 120GB drive = $300Wireless "N" adapter = Not required but ~$75 from Walmart10$ fee per game, no argument there, sucks paying over $50 on PS3 and 360250GB HDD = Don't need it with the 120GB included with the EliteFlash support = Adds support for 3rd party flash drives, not only MS branded ones. This is a good thing, not a negative.HD-DVD???? = Nobody wants it and it will not play games.Natal = Optional and who caresSo $300 or $375 if you want wireless N, Not including monitor or TV of course. But most people already own a TV and I doubt they use it "just" for their 360.[/citation]

That wireless adapter plugs into one of the USB ports. That is NOT something that I would like to do. Having to go through the USB port just adds more latency (though negligible probably) and wastes a usb port that would be used for charging or a wired controller otherwise. (I prefer wired controllers. I have one for my PC and when I bring it along to my friends' houses to play xbox, guess which one is fought over most.... the wired one. Wireless controllers are just annoying imo and useless extra weight (and less comfortable). I don't need that much freedom to move anyway.)

You can buy Western Digital's Scorpio Blue 2.5" 1TB drive for notebooks, format it with FAT32 and drop it in the PS3 and viola, storage body slam of the Xbox360, and yes I own both.

I see the Xbox360 Elite + $50 gift card for $299.99. That equates to essentially Console + 2 bundled games for $250. I used the extra $50 to buy a 2nd wireless controller, personally.

[citation][nom]tayb[/nom]HD-DVD Drive: Not necessary, no one bought it, and it's not even for sale anymore.[/citation]
Got mine for $20, also comes with the Universal Remote. Then bought a bunch of HD-DVD movies for a couple bucks each, and then used the Warner Bros. Red-to-Blue program to trade most of them in for BR discs for a few more bucks.

I agree that MS is clearly taking advantage of the situation here to make extra $$$. However, there is also a driving force for them to NOT overprice their HDDs. They are trying to ramp up their movie/TV rental and XBL arcade services. If they want this to catch on, they had better provide a reasonably priced HDD so people have the capability to store these things.
