i just got an xbox pro and i need to connect it to ethernet. the closest and most manageable ethernet plug is in my comcast dvr cable box. i tried to plug it in but it didn't connect the xbox. is there a way to connect my xbox via the cable box at all?

No, but if you have a network cable from your router going to the DVR, you can add a network switch to connect the xbox.

That sux. I'm in a rented house so I can't drill a hole in the floor to connect the xbox and router and I'm not willing to spend much money on a wireless bridge. Any other suggetions? But thanks anyway

The least expensive wireless Ethernet bridge I know of is the ASUS WL-520GU w/ dd-wrt or tomato third party firmware:

http://www.mwave.com/mwave/skusearch_v3.asp?scriteria=BA24252 ($29 shipped, after $10 mail-in rebate)

At least it's reasonably priced.

There's also powerline bridging:

Besides running a wire, those are your options.
