The problem is that many gamers like to play games such as this off SSDs where the levels and encounters load almost instantly. This wants 20% of a 250GB drive. And it's not just about storing it. Many people don't want to download 45GB. Some have data caps, some don't have the greatest connections and don't want to download for two days. Perhaps biggest of all is the ongoing frustration many gamers feel ( at least I do ) with devs and publishers being lazy. Games that run horribly unless you have a $1500 system, games that suffer poor console ports, massive storage needs with no explanation, and piss-poor installers that don't even give you the option to install only the language packs and audio content you need.

Why can't people use the SSD as swap and a cache for the most used blocks of their HDD and the HDD for the rest?
if there's a straight pack of textures from the HDD it can read that at somewhat decent speed.

Level loading wouldn't mind me much, locations loading frequently I may consider annoying.

Then again I've had both an MSX machine with cassette and the Amiga with floppies.
I'm somewhat ok as-long as I don't have swap through a pile of HDDs while loading ;D
