[citation][nom]xaephod[/nom]I will buy a card from their competitor next time. I don't like being lied to.[/citation]If they showed you a ridiculous video of the "crime" on youtube, and the ebay listing wasn't taken down, and you still don't realize it's a hilarious marketing ploy... I don't know what to tell you. It was a stunt. Companies do them all the time. Plus XFX makes some of the best cards with the best warranty. I don't know why you'd want to take them off your list. You and Parrish both. :/

[citation][nom]oconnellda[/nom]*its. I'm a grammar snob.[/citation]

Screw the minor grammar infraction. Just check out how the whole article reads like a scrambled pile of thoughts.

[citation][nom]sliem[/nom]No it was not stolen, it's all marketing by XFX.Ok?[/citation]

Ur smart.

Already figured this out after the first email. Just wasn't convincing.

So atleast one of the 5970 cards is making its way into the museum.. Wonder what the caption might be.. Oh how about the company name extension.! " SPONSORED BY XFX - XTREME FRAUD XPERTS ".. Seriouslly, did they needed this.!! Kindda sick..

[citation][nom]mavanhel[/nom]I'm not sure if this is regular to a 5970 or not, but from the pictures it doesn't seem to have a DVI port, just 5 (or maybe 6, can't tell due to shadows) HDMI ports.[/citation]
*facepalm* that would be 6 displayports... you know... for eyefinity...

[citation][nom]itadakimasu[/nom]This just in.The high bidder is a prince in Nigeria.I don't care how limited edition it is. In 2 years it's going to be worth $50.[/citation]
$50? Wow you're so hilarious. It's the card that comes in that SMG case. I'll get more than $50 for my STANDARD 4890 when it becomes 2 years old.

are u crazy??? 10+k$$ for a card? and people bid for it...just how insane and a moron can u be..even if u are one of the so called "enthusiasts"!

Its not illegal, I actually received the emails (as I am signed up to the XFX newsletters) and it clearly said at the bottom of the email that its a gamertainment communication with a link to the urban dictionary explaining what gamertainment means. From this you could easily figure out it was a hoax/viral campaign. Theres only yourself to blame if you fell for it.

here is the meaning of the word Gamertainment... "An advertising campaign cleverly disguised within a classic gaming plot scenario. Advertising that entertains as if the viewer is in middle of an actual game". XFX have done nothing wrong.

"The item listing of Product #68 eBay is a valid auction. The winning bid is a binding contract and the winner will be committed to purchasing the item. This particular card will be a fully warranted product from XFX. In addition, this highly collectible merchandise comes with the wooden crate featured in the videos and signed by the XFX girls and cast of the promotion. "
Source: XFX E-mail number 2.

Yes, it's a viral ad campaign. My bet is that whoever wants to pay so much is doing such because it's signed by the people in the ad, it comes with the case and whatnot. Basically, they're hoping that someday people will look back on this video and think they want the prop.

Nobody's paying 10k to USE the card, they're willing to pay it to COLLECT the card.

[citation][nom]teknic111[/nom]Did anyone actually watch the video and think it was real?? Of course it's marketing!!![/citation]
My thoughts exactly.

How about something like the legendary GTX285x2 (A GTX295 was actually a GTX275x2) with 4GB i a 1000 run?
To make this a epic card, they could have done a HD5870x3 (yes, 3 GPU's) with 6-9GB of memory. That would be a card worth $10,000.

Yep, it's only a matter of time, now... I'm sure that ATI will put it on a retail card some day, too... maybe in the future people will be buying x4 GPU cards just like we buy quad-core processors today. Just a thought. And heck, if one of these things would have 6gb of memory, that would be more than all my other current system memory put together.

xfx 5series cards blow in factor of quality and reliability. no wonder they need to go into cruel advertisement campaigns.
on top of that, the customer service and making the user happy is far fetched from these guys as well.

The winner of the FREE card that XFX is giving away is going to be chosen on May 31st. 😉 It's going to someone who's in their database, no other entry or form filling out required.
