Hello, and thanks in advance.

Somewhere along the way, Windows XP stopped recognizing blank CDs and won't
let me burn files onto CD-R or CD-RW using Explorer. I can burn audio CDs
just fine through Windows Media Player and downloaded books through Audible,
so it seems to be an XP Explorer problem and not a burner hardware problem.

Under properties, the "recording" tab is there, and "enable CD recording" is
checked.

I've uninstalled the driver for the CD/DVD player, rebooted and let it self
install.

I can read CDs just fine, and play DVDs as well. Interestingly, however, I
have to open them through Explorer (i.e., the header in "my computer"
remains the generic "DVD-CD/RW Drive" rather than changing its name to the
specific disk when inserted, like on my other XP computer).

Any help would be appreciated.

After some more tinkering, I think I might have fixed it.

The only "third party" CD stuff is the Roxio plug-in to Audible. I
uninstalled the plug-in, uninstalled AudibleManager, and then reinstalled
everything, and all works just fine...so far.
