Just upgraded to XP from Win98. This system does not like switching users. Locks up or just doesn't respond (haven't figured it out yet). Does anyone else have the same problems with this silly OS. Oh, It is slooooooowww. Bill does it again (IMO).

No problems switching users for me whatsoever.

So much complaining. I don't have any problems. It's a good solid OS so far. I even found out that the CDRW driver update from microsoft got my drive to work.

Here's a forum that's more focused on the winxp issues. I've found it usefull:

If you did an upgrade from your previous OS without formatting! I highly suggest you format and In XP fresh.
Upgrading an MS On top of a MS OS doesn't always produce the best results!

FORMAT!!!!!

Whenever I install a new OS, I make every effort to make sure I fresh-install it - even if that means a lot of back-up work.

yet again no problems on my part,. XP say's that its minimum is 128Mb ram but really its 256Mb i have found it to be slighlt slugish unless you have 512Mb, the user switching is so much better than previous OS's

I have absolutly no complints well apart from the ATi's lack of hydrovision support, i feel i may defect soon.

I'd say it is a dream. I'm running XP pro, and I just installed a basic LinkSys, 10/100 NIC, XP had detected it, installed the software, and asked me about setting up a network before I even realized XP had finished booting! It was so fast I didn't believe it, I thought maybe XP decided to load some generic NIC driver. Nope, had the LinkSys 10/100 plain and simple. Didn't even get to put in the floppy disk. Obviously this won't work with all hardware, but, oh, is it nice if it does.

it works with all the products which are reputable... if you have creative sound card, er matrox graphics card, 3com lan card, then it would work just perfectly. you don't have to do anything after that, unless you want other features like DVDmax on g400 or audio center for creative. and yeah it's cool... it's like half an hour faster than anything i knew before.
