When I open a GPO using mmc from XP Pro everything seems
to work, but the new upgraded settings are not viewable
or editable from 2000 server (the same GPO) and the
changes don't take effect.

If I go back into mmc and open the same GPO the new
setting changes I made are still saved, but again they
don't take effect or appear from AD users & computers
using 2000 server. Any help would be great.

Thanks

2000 server w/ sp4...XP Pro w/ sp1

you'll need to find the appropriate .adm file on the xp machine, and copy it
to the 2k one. then in the AD MMC, open the gp, right click on
"administrative templates" and "add/remove" (iirc). Find the .adms you just
copied, replace them if asked (may want to back up the old ones obvisouly),
and that should sort it

hopefully!

To elaborate on Barry's post, copy all the ADM files in C:\windows\inf
on your Win XP machine to the C:\windows\inf folder on your 2000 machine.
Replace files that already exist.
