Q:
Does WinXP use/need more CPU resources than 9X - ie. if you had a AMD XP 64 3500+ CPU in a PC running games with a 9X OS 512mb ram, would the framerates drop a little or game run slower if you uninstalled 9X and installed XP with the same amount of ram?

yes and no. If you jsut install xp and leave all the bloat and bling enabled, then yes, xp with tax more of your memory and cpu. It's called "overhead'. If you trim the fat off of xp and run the classic style gui, no background, and disable needless startup apps and processes using software like xplite, then no, it does not take up more resources than 9x would (assuming your not being stupid and talking about windows 95).
