Hi All. I have had this problem with XP pro, XP pro SP1 and now SP2.
Basically I have been trying to setup hibernate and wake on LAN on my
PC, so I can wake it with a magic packet across the internet (via a
VPN to my router). I have it setup and working perfectly..........but

If I wake it using WOL or by pressing the power button on the pc it
will not hibernate again until I reboot windows.

I have all sorts of rubbish running in the background but have also
tried it with all this killed and is the same.

I have an Asus A7N8X motherboard with AMD XP 3200+ CPU 512MB ram.
Latest bios, latest drivers from NVIDIA's site (and have tried with
older ones. I have disabled WOL on the network card driver as this
resulted in the machine booting up upon a broadcast or ping (very
annoying when the pc shuts down then wakes up in middle of the night).
I have enabled wake on PCI device in bios, this enables the magic
packet wake up.

Anyone any ideas? As it is really starting to bug me.

Occasionally I need something off my PC whilst at work, so I do not
want it on all the time, just want the ability to turn it on from 20
miles away if I actually need it.

Just to clarify, if i go to start shutdown hibernate it will always
hibernate. I have set it to hibernate after 30 mins, this works the
first time then reboot unlock pc dont do anything and it does not
hibernate after any amount of time.
