Dell XPS8500, had 2 x 4GB, 2 x 8GB PC3 12800U.

Checked Crucial who said my motherboard would accept up to 32GB 4 x 8GB.

Arrived today, shut down, removed old, replaced with new. Tried to startup and hear beeping now, red light and computer won't start.

I tried to throw back in the old RAM and same beeping.

Any idea? Please help!

I've since been able to boot up with the two 4GB chips in slots 1, & 3. Leaving 2, & 4 open. Any suggestions? Would obviously like to run on 32GB, not 8GB.

When I add just two 8GB in the same slot where the two 4GB go I get the 2 beep error.

When I add the two 2GB to the other two slots, the same configuration it was originally I get the 4 beep error.

Only configuration that is working now is just the two 4GB. :(

Beep codes attached.

Because when I do a search on the model number of the HP memory, it says so in the product page that it's ECC Registered memory.
Some boards will accept ECC and just ignore the extra chip, some won't, it's impossible to tell.

Now you have to clear CMOS, and try again.

Clear the CMOS?

Not sure what that's about. Is that why it's not accepting the original configuration of chips?

Fully power off the PC, open the case up, find the coin shaped battery, push the release lever, and take out the battery.
Leave it out for 10mins, put your original memory back in and the battery, and power the PC up.
You can try the new memory kit again, but I wouldn't hold my breath with a kit that may not be officially supported by the motherboard.
