XSPC EX vs RX (240mm Rad)

Hopefully these threads don't start annoying you guys. (rubix, lutifj, moto, boiler, etc. etc.) I honestly can't decide on my parts, well at least the radiator in this scenario. Which one is better, the xspc ex 240 or the rx240? The ex obviously is cheaper, however offers more FPI (don't know if this is correct) While the RX is thicker and offers less FPI? Anyways, I have a $300 budget and I found a place local that sells watercooling parts for a decent price plus there isn't shipping! So far these are my parts, keep in mind I have no idea if these are good or not well at least the tubing and res...

OR

AND
EX240: http://www.svc.com/ex240.html
OR
RX240: http://www.svc.com/rx240.html
Really, what I am wondering about the rx vs the ex is about price. IS the rx worth $20 more than the ex? Because, I can use that extra 20 towards the pump so I can get the speed controlled version of the 655!

What should I use for keeping gunk from building up? I was thinking about these IandH KillCoils: http://www.svc.com/ih-killcoils.html How many would I have to get for this loop? Or I can try that feser stuff...but honestly i want to go distilled water! Or would it be better to use something like pt nuke? :/

If you do not remember, this is to cool ONE overclocked i7-2600k! In the even where I will either cool a gtx 480 or grab one of the newer gtx 660ti's (when they come out) I will be adding another 240mm radiator (same as the one I will choose now, rx or ex)

:??: me annoyed? c'mon! who gave you that idea?

IS the rx worth $20 more than the ex?
well they are each best suited in specific-general application scenarios. The higher FPI count will mean mroe cfm/stattic presure/noiseier fans. The low FPI count will mean the inverse of what was said for the EX. HOWEVER the EX has been designed from the ground up to be a compromise between the RS and RX rads so its sandwiched in between two types of rads - slow rpm+high rpm fans.

You can shoot over to martinsliquidlab.org & skinnee and check his test out about the rads - they are easily viewable for comparison and you'll also know how much heat they can spit out.

I was thinking about these IandH KillCoils
yeah you're fine with that and you can have two in one loop. One is still good enough. STAY AWAY from the feser coolants and any coolant in that matter. Colored tubing and distill - is the smarter choice.

or you could try mayhem's though they will be brought in from UK so the shipping will be high in your case.

so the pump you chose is good for them future upgrades, but also shoot for some reviews of the pumps and the review's conclusion states which route to go.

hope these help!

Edit: Paperclip... hehehehe, forgive me but it also seems like a good troll line :p

Edit 2: might want to recheck those compression fitting dia's they should be 1/2 ID, 3/4 OD or keep compression's the same only changing the tubing dia.

I have a 120mm EX radiator for an AMD cooling loop and it works fine, it is probably a better choice to get a EX and use that money for a better pump, since you're only cooling a 2600k there is no need to get the "best" right now unless you wanted to have a decent single radiator for a graphics card and cpu. Up to you though.

As far as coolant goes, I wouldn't use it unless you have to have dyed fluid (same goes for dying distilled, it will stain your tubing and make it look awful if you have clear or white tubing, doesn't look as bad in colored tubing)

Well, another thing you can think about is putting a RX on top to cool the CPU's and then hav the flow come out of the CPU and into an EX that is mounted on the back using a standoff, and have it go to the graphics card(s).

That would work fine, I didn't know what case you had.

I'd take the Rx given the choice, slower quieter fans and the option to crank them up if needed, I went for two Ex360's in my radbox basically for cost reasons, the Ex's were half of the Rx price, but money no object, I'd have had two Rx's,
And /agree with Luttfij, we'd rather answer a ton of questions before you build, than try to fix a problem because you bought blind

My 600t's reservoir is mounted using two zip ties and two screws, one screw hole was already there and ready for a screw, the other I had to tap, both holes are where the second hard drive cage was supposed to be, from what I see on the CM690 2 there is a way for internal mounting, see this pic provided by google images http://www.techpowerup.com/gallery/3070/15.jpg

That reservoir looks to be a bitspower tube reservoir or a EK multioption 250, both would work well but I don't have the case to try and get a reservoir in. Honestly, I would try and go for a bay reservoir like an XSPC single bay one, they are pretty low cost and are good products for the price.

sorry i thought you were talking about rads...each have their trade off's. The micro res is an older version of a res, very widely used but more snazzy looking and functional than the micro res by swiftech. It actually depends on your taste of setup. if you're looking for minimal tub routing/connections - then the drivebay res' are ok. HOWEVER, the single bay res can be a very bad PITA during filling/priming/bleeding. I'll skip draining as that will just kill you when you're done. the dual bay would be a good place to go, more volume :)

on a side note: since your getting the swiftech MCP655 - you should look out for the dual bay res by xspc that holds the alpahcool pump, same as the mcp pump.

I would call ahead and ask if SVC has those items in stock. Half the time they say online they do, but don't actually.
